Alpine star Lindsey Vonn asserts she will be "perfectly prepared" for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, after securing a top-three finish for the fourth instance in five World Cup races.

The 41-year-old, who achieved a milestone by becoming the oldest downhill World Cup winner, took the bronze position in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This was her 142nd career World Cup podium finish.

Impressive Performance in the French Alps

Competing at the French Alps resort for the first occasion in eight years, Vonn finished the course in a time of 1:20.60. She was 0.36 seconds behind winner Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson taking the runner-up spot.

"I didn't quite have the right line on the initial jump," the skier commented. "After that, I skied well. I'm pleased with my performance today, unlike in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was not aggressive enough."

This performance was her second podium at Val d'Isere over the weekend, having also finished third in the downhill on Saturday.

A Remarkable Comeback from Retirement

Vonn officially retired in early 2019 due to ongoing knee problems. However, she made a stunning return in late 2024 following a partial knee replacement.

With just over six weeks remaining until the 2026 Winter Games, which are set to run from 6-22 February, Vonn's performances are timely.

She already possesses an Olympic gold and two bronze medals from previous Games and is strongly positioned to represent the United States at the 2026 Games.

"When we get to Cortina, I will be fully ready," Vonn affirmed.

Chasing More Titles

Alongside her Olympic ambitions, Vonn is also hoping to add to the four overall crystal globes she has won over a career spanning 20 years.

She presently enjoys a 69-point lead at the summit of the overall downhill standings and is ranked fifth in the overall super-G standings.

This current World Cup circuit includes a nine more events scheduled before the circuit finale in Norway on 21 March 2026.
