Red Bull has confirmed significant changes for the 2026 F1 campaign, moving up Frenchman Isack Hadjar to its main squad and awarding 18-year-old Briton Arvid Lindblad his debut Formula 1 seat. The young driver, who comes from a mixed Swedish-Indian background, will be team-mate to New Zealander Liam Lawson at the second team VCARB. This driver musical chairs results in Japan's Yuki Tsunoda losing his seat post a half-decade in F1. The New British Hope The British teen drove first practice for the Silverstone and Mexican Grands Prix this year. The youngster was tagged as a rising talent by Red Bull from the age of 12 years old. Discussing the team's junior academy, a senior Red Bull figure previously said that Lindblad "looks really promising", commending his "pure speed". The team prepared a programme since last year to ready Lindblad for his potential Grand Prix bow in 2026, including appearances in F1 practice sessions at the British and Mexican races. Lindblad stated it was a "proud moment", commenting: "2026 will be a massive test, and I know there's much to understand, but I'm prepared to work closely with the team and meet the challenge. I can't wait to get started." Lindblad has taken a couple of victories in F2 so far this season and is P6 in the championship ahead of the final round in Abu Dhabi. Hadjar's Big Break Isack Hadjar enjoys his maiden top-three finish in F1, secured at the Dutch Grand Prix in August. The Frenchman's debut season started on a low note when he crashed during the warm-up lap of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. But, from that point, he has been one of the most impressive rookies this season. He featured an excellent top-three result at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he lies in tenth place in the drivers' standings. The team principal commented: "Hadjar has shown great maturity and proved to be a quick learner. Crucially, he has the raw speed that is the number one requirement in this sport. We believe he can excel next to Max." The promoted driver called it "an incredible opportunity" and said he felt "prepared". The Lawson Decision For the seat at Racing Bulls, Red Bull have opted for Lawson over Tsunoda. The New Zealander started 2025 with the senior squad but was demoted early in the year. However, he has settled back in at the junior outfit with some strong performances, persuading Red Bull he merits another season. Tsunoda, meanwhile, has been ejected after a difficult season. His best result is a sixth place, and he has scored a small fraction of the team's constructors' championship. The driver market moves mean that there remains no place on the Red Bull academy for Ireland's Alex Dunne, who will remain in F2 next season.
