'People are afraid' - why 'juggernaut' Arsenal are the team to beat.

There's no doubt why Arsenal stand as many people's top picks to secure the Premier League during this term.

Consider their outcomes against Newcastle and Crystal Palace versus those equivalent matches last season.

The Gunners have beaten all of them in the current season, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race in the prior campaign.

Impenetrable Defense

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a key reason why they are appearing strong to at last realize their title goal.

They lead the league for clean sheets (6), goals allowed (3), shots faced (72), shots on target faced (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the best in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Dominance

Their threat from set-pieces is well known, but competing clubs still don't know how to neutralize the Gunners from these chances.

They have registered 11 times from set-pieces in the league, several additional than any other side, with 69% of their goals resulting from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just wary of them and it is great to see."

Title Credentials

What is even more notable about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also encountered Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United away from home and Manchester City on home turf - and are still ahead by four points at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their long-standing opponents face difficulties. This marks the initial occasion at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the beginning, having spent around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in quest of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the spending has so far paid off in style, with his side second top scorers in the league and boasting the strongest defense, despite several injuries.

  • Clean sheets in three straight Premier League games
  • 385 minutes without letting in a goal
  • Only a handful of concessions in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and experts have characterized Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now operating with belief and purpose.
