Glenn noted that Boyd, who is hospitalized, was āpositiveā during a recent discussion. āWhat reassures me, is that his mood is upbeat,ā Glenn said Wednesday. āHis wife and child, they are holding up and he is expected to recover fully.ā Glenn was unsure when Boyd could be discharged the hospital, where he is reported as in critical but steady condition. āDonāt know just yet,ā Glenn remarked. āYet I must mention, from our conversation, he seemed very positive. Once more, that puts my mind at ease, given his positive frame of mind and heās talking that way.ā New York police released security footage Monday of a man sought in the incident involving Boyd. A motive for the shooting is currently under review and officials stated itās not clear if Boyd was targeted. There were no additional victims were reported. The attack took place around 2 a.m. on Sunday morning near Madison Square Garden and the iconic square. Boyd, in his late twenties, was taken to Bellevue Hospital after suffering a wound to the stomach, police said. The shooter fled the scene. Glenn mentioned Boyd has been on his mind āa tonā since the news broke. Glenn added that Boyd and his wife are new parents to a newborn. āWhat immediately crossed my mind, he has a new baby,ā Glenn said. āMy mind went to his family, worrying about his newborn and I hope he recovers fully. Those thoughts dominated my thinking. āThereās a process to this, that I wonāt detail, but Iām happy at the fact that his outcome looks very positive.ā Boyd hasnāt played during the current season, his debut year with New York, after going on the season-ending injured reserve list on 18 August with a shoulder issue that involved surgical repair. He signed with New York as an unrestricted free agent in spring and was projected as an important component of an improved special teams group under Glenn and special teams coordinator the special teams coach. However, he got hurt during a practice session on 2 August and was carted from the field. Boyd has stayed involved with the squad throughout the season while working his way back. āHeās been a part of what weāre doing,ā Glenn commented. āI mean, he comes to the games all the time. He is completely involved. As one of the leagueās best on special teams, he has been instrumental in guiding others.ā Boyd, from Texas, spent his initial four years with the Vikings after being a seventh-round pick by the Vikings out of the University of Texas in the 2019 draft. He signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2023 and moved to Houstonās squad subsequently. Boyd signed a one-year contract valued at $1.6 million with New York in March.
