Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of characters who will split off from the main group to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could help the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
