In a unexpected collaboration that breaks conventional predictions, the game developer has announced an digital partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Uncovered

According to the authorized release, "A strange encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where hints of banned rituals and fearsome changes reverberate through the obscurity." The storyline features a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a secret sect.

The mission concentrates on "strange experiments and a monstrous adversary" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Transformations

The trailer features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a striking sequence showing a character, likely the hostage, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Prizes and Additional Content

Players who finish the mission will obtain an exclusive katana alongside several artifacts hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

Third Free Story Update

This update also introduces the game's latest free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive skills: Naoe debuts a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
