🔗 Share this article Alexander Isak Burglars Ordered to Repay Just £1 Each from £1.2m Thefts Giacomo Nikolov confessed to participating in the burglaries Members of an Italy-based clan of thieves who stole more than £1.2m worth of goods, among them from former NUFC forward Isak, have been mandated to pay back only £1 each. Brothers Valentino and Giacomo, their sister Jela and her child Charlie journeyed to the northeastern of the UK to burgle three houses in April 2024. The group of four were jailed for between six and 10 years in May 2025. At a criminal assets proceeding at the court, Jela Jovanovic and the brothers Nikolov were ordered to pay back £1 each while Charlie must hand over over a thousand pounds. Details of the Break-ins The court was told the group arrived by boat in the UK on 27 March 2024 and used a campervan as their "base of operations", which they parked at Scotch Corner and Durham service service stations while using another car to search for properties and execute burglaries. On 31 March they took over £1m of goods including high-end fashion, purses, jewelry and a honor from a house on a street in Jesmond, while the residents were away. Valentino Nikolov was the sole member of the foursome to deny the charge but was found guilty by the jury The next evening, the gang broke into a house on a gated cul-de-sac in Whitburn, and stole luxury bags, valuables and shoes valued at over one hundred thousand pounds. Following surveillance of the football club's facility for 48 hours, they then struck at the home of Sweden striker Mr Isak in Darras Hall on 4 April, stealing ten thousand pounds in money, £68,000 worth of jewelry and the player's £120,000 Audi RS6. The gang, who were portrayed by the prosecution as experienced itinerant burglars, wore hand coverings and face coverings, turned their mobile devices on silent as they neared their targets and attached a number plate, which had been stolen from a garage in a town, on to their car with rubber straps. They were apprehended in the Birmingham on April 13. Thieves took cash and jewelry valued at eighty thousand pounds and an Audi from footballer Isak's property Legal Proceedings and Sentencing Valentino had pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to burglary but was convicted by jurors, while his family members had all submitted guilty pleas to the same charge. At the criminal gains hearing, prosecutor the prosecution said each of the burglars had benefited from their crimes to the value of £1,266,285.93, which was determined by what the victims said they had had stolen. But Charlie was the only one found to have any money that could be "realised", specifically over a thousand pounds which had previously been confiscated by police, the court heard, with two weeks to be spent in jail if he failed to pay. The other three had no money or assets so were ordered to make a token amount of £1 each, with seven days in incarceration the result if the sum was not submitted. The judge Spragg said if they were discovered with property in the future, "for example operating Italy in a fast car or possessing a property", prosecutors could seek new proceedings to "satisfy the sum outstanding".
