Admittedly, it's Packed with Nonsense, Over-the-Top Hospitality and Psychobabble. However, I Honestly Love Meghan's Festive Episode.

No considering the time of year, it's constantly hunting season for criticism on the Meghan Markle's televisual offering, With Love, Meghan. Critics, from seasoned journalists to online pundits, have rarely been so united as when gleefully ripping the lifestyle show's initial installments apart. The common opinion seemed to be a greater royal outrage had hardly ever taken place than the now-infamous pretzel re-packaging incident.

Presently, as a festive rebel, she is back once again with a "Festive Special" (also known as a yuletide episode). However on this occasion, the dynamic has changed. The familiar ingredients viewers are accustomed to – meaningless jargon salads, overzealous entertaining – persist, but set of a yuletide episode, suddenly it all makes sense. The puzzle has come perfectly; it's a ideal seasonal storm.

Now, Meghan resembles the eccentric aunt at the typical holiday get-together – offering unasked-for guidance, and delivering the periodic peculiar declaration. ("I love spinach!" … "A tradition has to have a beginning." … "A tree is part of my memory and love of the holiday season.") She's a bit of a character, but her presence is familiar and oddly reassuring. And she seems pleased; she's causing the slightest hurt.

She understands her all subtle gestures, utterance and look will be analyzed and judged, but manages to seem unburdened and remarkably at ease.

Perhaps this is the only time in history where that clichéd phrase – "Don't listen, it's pure jealousy" – may well be true. Because, in all honesty, everything in Meghan's Holiday Celebration is charming. Granted, it's all painfully excessive, foolishness and extravagant – but isn't that just what Yuletide is all about? And the talk she's talking might be laughable, but the example she sets appears to be beautifully curated.

Anything she sets her mind to, she executes with flair. Her recipes looks delicious, the festive decoration she crafts is gorgeous, her gifts are practically too exquisite to tear into. Not a single thing is mediocre or aesthetically displeasing – including the way she fastens her apron is creative and fashionable. She doesn't bung a dish in the oven, it "has a moment", and she creases wrapping paper like an origami guru. She also seems to be genuinely relishing herself the entire time. How could any cynical observer not be charmed, overcome by seasonal cheer and left with a intense desire for handmade crackers or a crudites platter where broccoli is positioned in the form of a Christmas ring?

Meghan had a career in acting for a living, naturally, but even so, after the level of attention she has faced since she started dating Prince Harry, even a hypothetical offspring of two legendary actresses would have difficulty behaving this naturally. Her decision to change or even moderate her shtick, regardless of it being so relentlessly, internationally ridiculed, is strangely reassuring. In our uncertain world, here is something we can count on: Meghan will remain herself, come what may. We will consistently know our position with her.

If you're still not buying her message, a reminder that will surely come as a comfort: you aren't required to. There isn't mandatory conscription these days, and should it be reinstated, it would be doubtful to include watching With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. If, however, you decide to tune in and are gripped with longing about her flawless Christmas, you can take solace either. Whether you're a royal or a everyday person, hardly any child fully understands the effort and hard work their parent does in the holiday season. So you can console yourself by envisioning her children's faces when they unfold a handwritten message that says, 'I love you because you are brave,' from a handcrafted holiday countdown, rather than a chocolate.
